The Dalí Ride
5 nights from Barcelona and back
Our suggestion. Change anything and we’ll rebalance it.
- Campervans up to 6 m fit every stop
- All stops open Apr–Sep
- Free to look · no signup
Leave Barcelona by the sea and spend your first nights on the coast, then turn inland through medieval stone villages and the farmland around Figueres before the road runs out at Cadaqués. Short drives, and every night at a campsite or aire our team has checked for campervans.

Nearby — and where to leave the van
Dalí’s house, Portlligat Draft
Dalí’s own seaside home and studio, a 7-minute walk from your pitch. Every visitor needs a timed ticket.
No dogs
7 min walk from tonight’s stop. Leave the van there.
Walking directionsLeave the van at your pitch: the road on to Portlligat is signed no motorhomes.
- Book a time slot at tickets.salvador-dali.org as soon as your dates are fixed: summer slots go fast.
- Collect your tickets at the house 30 min before your slot, or the booking is cancelled.
- Closed 7 January–11 February. Adults €15.50 online (€18.50 in July–August); ages 0–8 free with a ticket.
- No buggies or big backpacks inside (left luggage opposite), and the stairs are narrow.
Cap de Creus lighthouse Draft
Spain’s wild eastern tip: a lighthouse, wind-carved rocks and huge sea views. Vans can’t drive there; the shuttle can.
Dogs on a lead
17 min walk from tonight’s stop to the Cap de Creus shuttle (Corral d’en Morell). Leave the van there.
Walking directionsMotorhomes are banned on the lighthouse road all year, and on summer days all private cars are too.
- The L33 shuttle runs daily from late June to mid-September (20 Jun–13 Sep in 2026), plus some spring and autumn days: €7 return.
- Sunset works by shuttle in summer only (last bus 23:00). Off-season there is no shuttle and vans still can’t go.
- On high fire-risk summer days the paths close and the shuttle only stops at the restaurants.
- Stay on marked paths and hold children’s hands: the cliffs are windy.
Cadaqués old town Draft
Whitewashed lanes up to the Santa Maria church and a seafront of cafés and fishing boats, a 14-minute walk away.
14 min walk from tonight’s stop. Leave the van there.
Walking directionsOr park the van: Saba car park, Riera de Sant Vicenç (town entrance) — €3.45/h · 5 min walk
For your last morning: use the open-air part, not the covered levels (2.4 m limit). No sleeping here.
Directions to parkingKeep the van out of the centre: the seafront road is signed no motorhomes. Use the bypass towards Portlligat.
- Steep cobbled lanes: proper shoes, and a baby carrier beats a buggy.
- Dog-friendly beaches: Cala de Sant Pius V, Es Sortell, Cala de Pep Ton and Es Calders.
- Town rules: no chairs or awnings outside the van, and no sleeping in vehicles outside campsites (€250 fine).
Sant Pere de Rodes monastery Draft
A vast Romanesque monastery high on a ridge above Cap de Creus and the sea: a scenic way back.
No dogs
On tomorrow’s drive: adds about 30 min.
Park the van: Upper car park by Santa Helena church — Free · 8 min walk
About 20 spaces. If full, a bigger one at the GIP-6041 junction is a 15-minute walk.
Directions to parkingNarrow mountain road with hairpins: take it slowly. The last stretch to the monastery is closed to vehicles.
- Go via El Port de la Selva, then down through Vilajuïga to Figueres and the motorway.
- Open Tuesday–Sunday from 10:00, Sundays until 15:00. Closed most Mondays.
- Tickets €7 (€5 during restoration works); under-16s free. Not adapted for wheelchairs.
